Rolv's father was an Oath Man of Gunnar Ironside and so Rolv grew up around Gunnar's hall with his sons, Ulf and Magnus.
Rolv was taught to fight, with spear, axe, shield and sword from being young so that he could one day serve Gunnar as his father had. After hs father was killed when fighting when Rolv was twelve years old, it left Rolv little, but his sword, which Gunnar gifted Rolv for his father's loyalty. After this Rolv earned his keep as a hunter, helped by his skill with a bow.
Being close in age with Magnus they struck up a friendship, so when Ulf inherited the family's wealth and Magnus decided to go and find his own wealth Rolv was convinced to set sail with him.
During a hunting trip from Tonsburg, Rolv was struck by an arrow, luckily it only hit his seax sheath. Approached by a large jovial fellow hunter apologising, Rolv couldn't help but laugh and see the funny side. That hunter was Arn Trygvasson. Accepting the apology they continued to hunt together. They quickly struck up a friendship, Rolv's calculated nature been a counter balance for Arn's often drunken state. Having heared of Arn's desire to sail to England, Rolv told him of Magnus and the ships they were preparing.
After been in the army that captured the city renamed Jorvik, Rolv looked to settle and he married his wife, Bera working her fathers smallholding near Jorvik. He now has two children, Ada Rolvdottir and Eirik Rolvson.
Though content with hunting and farming, Rolv likes to go raiding with his friends often… you never get sick of the thrill of battle.
